Regroup Offers Exclusive Access to ShakeAlert Early Earthquake Warnings
Regroup has exciting news for our clients on the U.S. West Coast! As we announced in a previous article, Regroup Mass Notification was approved in December 2017 to initiate pilot projects of the U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) next-generation ShakeAlert™ early earthquake warning test system.
Regroup has been at the forefront of this cutting-edge technology since early 2014, when we were selected as one of only six startups out of 200 applicants from around the world – and the first mass communication provider — to partner with San Francisco’s Department of Emergency Management in former-Mayor Ed Lee’s inaugural Entrepreneurship in Residence program (now known as STIR).
These collaborative efforts led to the development of a prototype of what would be the first-ever automated, multilingual earthquake warning notification system in the United States. When discussing his innovative program, Mayor Lee said, “San Francisco is home to the world’s greatest entrepreneurs, the ones who have ‘disrupted’ numerous industries, and we are bringing those same disruptive technologies to improve delivery of city services for our residents.”
Regroup’s pilot projects will be conducted with a few select clients located in areas where there’s sufficient sensor coverage (e.g., California, Washington State, Oregon) and our development team is ready to commence the pilots.
This is a unique opportunity for safety personnel in education, healthcare, and logistics and transportation, since only Regroup clients who already have pilots in place will have exclusive capability to leverage ShakeAlert™ Earthquake Early Warning Notifications when it goes live to the public.
When the shaking starts and seconds count, count on Regroup — the most trusted name in mass notification.
