Two Grave Scenarios Addressed by Rapid Response

Regroup Mass Notification has customers who were right in the danger zone. How our platform was used provides a glimpse on how communities, businesses and safety officials can use mass notifications when faced with an extraordinary emergency.

Butte College

THE COLLEGE IN OROVILLE, CALIFORNIA, USED REGROUP’S EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION ALERTS TO SHUT DOWN THE CAMPUS.

It evacuated students to keep them away from the deadly Camp Fire. As a result, the evacuated campus was able to be used as a much needed area for firefighters, their equipment and other first-response teams.

Enloe Medical Center

Doctors, nurses and other staffers at the Chico, California-based facility describe Nov. 8, 2018 as a blur of activity. About 300 people streamed into the emergency room doors on that day, as the nearby Feather River Medical Center was fully evacuated. Patients with critical needs had to be transferred, and fast.

REGROUP CUSTOMER ENLOE MEDICAL CENTER USED MASS NOTIFICATIONS TO CALL IN ADDITIONAL STAFF SUPPORT IMMEDIATELY.

THROUGHOUT THE REGION, AN ESTIMATED 52,000 PEOPLE WERE EVACUATED DURING THE CAMP FIRE. BUTTE COLLEGE REPORTED THAT MORE THAN 870 STUDENTS AND ALMOST 140 EMPLOYEES LOST THEIR HOMES, AND HUNDRED MORE WERE DISPLACED AND STAYING WITH FRIENDS OR FAMILY. THE ENLOE MEDICAL CENTER REPORTED THAT 265 EMPLOYEES AND 20 DOCTORS AFFILIATED WITH THE CENTER LOST THEIR HOMES.

An Award-Winning Platform

REGROUP’S RESPONSE TO THE CAMP FIRE DISASTER WAS ONE OF THE REASONS IT WAS NOMINATED FOR THE 2019 ‘ASTORS’ HOMELAND SECURITY AWARDS PROGRAM. REGROUP WAS THE PLATINUM AWARD WINNER IN 2018.

Some additional emergency notification successes that were cited in the 2019 nomination process included:

  • PREVENTING A POTENTIAL SCHOOL SHOOTING AT PENSACOLA STATE COLLEGE IN FLORIDA
  • ENABLING A RIPTIDE NOTIFICATION SERVICE FOR TOURISTS AND LOCALS IN DARE COUNTY, N.C.
  • PARTICIPATION IN A SUCCESSFUL TEST OF AN EARLY-ALERT SYSTEM FOR EARTHQUAKES ON THE WEST COAST OF THE UNITED STATES

Whether the threats to communities are natural events, horrific disasters, or armed and dangerous humans, mass notifications give authorities powerful tools to keep people informed when they need it most, and when seconds count. Whether dangers are somewhat anticipated or wildly unexpected, a mass notification platform is a critical way to deliver necessary information.
