Clarifying Your Assignment for this week

Liz Coblentz, my right and left hand GA for the Reading Program, just stopped by my office to get clarification about our assignments for class. Last week in class at Frostburg, I discussed the differences between formal and informal inventories. I asked the students to select an inventory from one of two places. The first place was from our course documents and the Appendices that it contains. I told them that they should pick one of the appendices that seemed to fit with their needs in their classroom and then state on Bb in the discussion area for this week, what they selected and why. I said that they didn't need to post the actual appendix item since we all had access to that and didn't need another copy. The second source for an informal inventory is anyplace else you have access to including your classroom. If you pick something from your classroom, you will need to post the inventory along with your comments about why you picked it on Bb. This is because we do not have access to your classroom and may want to use the inventory and wouldn't have access to it unless you posted it for us on Bb. I will be in Hagerstown this Wednesday and will conduct lecture there. Since Activity 3 this week is about getting started with your Clinical Portfolio, please make sure you have purchased your binder and have begun the process of thinking about how to organize it. Remember that I gave you a copy of a sample table of contents to use for this purpose. You do not need to submit anything related to the Clinical Portfolio just yet, and this will give me some breathing space to get caught up with both sections. I hope this clarifies the current state of our assignments. Thanks, Dr. Dow
